I think one of the most profound forms of love is “I’ll try that, for you. I may not like it, but I’ll try it.”

It’s a confused middle-aged man in a pottery class, whose daughter is helping him with his clay’s plasticity. It’s a kid scrunching up their brow while listening to their mom’s favorite music, trying to figure out why she likes it. It’s a girlfriend who says “Yes, I’ll go with you” and her girlfriend cheering and buying a second ticket for a con. It’s a friend half dragging another friend through an aquarium, the one being dragged laughing and calling out “Wait, wait, I know we’re here for the exhibit, but I haven’t been here! Slow down!”

It’s being willing to spend some of your time trying something new because it makes someone you love happy.

the saddest thing about life is that tattoos cost many money. oh and traveling? also costs many money. video games? many money. starting a new hobby? usually many money. concerts? so many money and also good luck even getting tickets. going out and getting a fancy beverage? you know the drill.

you may notice i use the phrase “my beloved” frequently. this is because i am in love with the world and everything in it. hope this clears things up <3

girl help the pessimists found me

“girl help i am staunchly refusing to realise my own naivete in a world almost completely made up of things that couldnt care less about me or are actively exploiting me”

image

Girl help the pessimists are mistaking an inherently meaningless universe for an inhumane and joyless one rather than recognizing the opportunity to make one’s own meaning and joy and to spread those things to others

“Isn’t it weird that [thing humans commonly eat] is poisonous to literally every domesticated animal” I mean, there’s a pretty good chance that [thing humans commonly eat] is at least mildly poisonous to humans, too. One of our quirks as a species is that we think our food is bland if it doesn’t have enough poison in it.

Humans have a really weird mix of mundane superpowers.

We’re not fast and don’t have a lot of natural weaponry but we’re bizarrely tolerant to a broad range of toxins to the point that one toxin is considered a morning necessity for some to perform at work. Gotta love us.

Honestly the biggest thing that in my experience makes DnD or any ttrpg run smoothly is buy-in

Players have to buy-in to the story otherwise it won’t work

And by this I don’t mean be railroaded by the DM I mean like,

When one of my players switches characters and I introduce them to the party by them just happening to be nearby, I know my players will find a reason to talk to the new PC cause it’s important. If there’s a noise outside they’ll investigate (albeit cautiously) cause that’s the point of the noise outside

You have to meet the DM at least halfway and Want to engage with the world

i googled this on a whim and the first thing i get is nyt race science

just as an FYI for those who don’t know - the NYT publishes things that are lowkey eugenics and phrenology and race science CONSTANTLY. it flies under the radar except for journalism twitter calling them out but the NYT SUCKS. it is very hard to encourage people to find reliable sources online when the “reliable sources” like papers of record do shit like this, and the NYT is one of the WORST offenders.
